Then Shared Lives could be for you!     Shared Lives is a service in which someone with assessed needs aged 18 and over can be supported for a few hours, a few days, on an outreach, short break or longer term basis in the Shared Lives Carer’s home environment, in the community, or in the supported persons home. Our service offers an alternative to traditional care options such as residential care, respite or day centres. The service is flexible and supports people to access work, leisure activities and trips out providing outcome focused and bespoke support plans. The service also promotes positive opportunities for building authentic and supportive social networks. Could you provide short break support for people being discharged from hospital, people with mental health problems, including dementia, or people with physical health difficulties and learning disabilities? As a Shared Lives Carer you will be self-employed and paid a fee for the support you provide which will cover living expenses. Living expenses are paid and Carers have access to preferential tax arrangements. To become a Shared Lives Carer you do not need to have previous experience in care, as you will receive ongoing training and support.
